
Figure 1:
A 7 micron yeast cell is collided with a two-cell conglomerate using the
dual-beam infrared tweezers. The deformation of the cell membranes can be
seen in the second frame.


Figure 2:
A 3 micron polystyrene sphere and a 5 micron sphere are collided with the
dual-beam tweezers. Given this controlled contact, experiments can be
designed to measure sticking forces and binding forces.
