Images from the
Routeburn Track, Milford Sound, and Queenstown, NZ
Traveling by bus further south brought us to Queenstown,
New Zealand. This area is best known for it's extreme activities,
such as bungee jumping or abseiling, but Tod and I came to do some hiking
on the Milford Track, which has been called "the most beautiful walk in
the world". However, we were discouraged from this course because
of limited access in the winter months, so instead we settled on the Routeburn
Track. Local authorities assured us it was just as beautiful, just
less well known. The hike itself proved them right. It is perhaps
the most beautiful setting I have ever personally seen, so amazing that
the pictures don't do it justice. It is truly a place that must be
experienced first hand.
We timed it right, so that a bus picked us up after
at the end of the trail after three days, so we were able to make it around
to Milford Sound. Again, it provided some beautiful scenery (this
time by boat) on the brief tour. Shortly after, we were on our way
back to Queenstown, where our stay in New Zealand basically ended.
